World Rogaining Championships 2027 – Australia
Start planning your next travel adventure to the World Rogaining Championships in Australia. These will be held in the spectacular Flinders Ranges of South Australia on 16-17 September 2027.
A true rogaining paradise. The area comprises of complex spur/gully terrain with spectacular red quartzite cliffs dominating the view in the competition area. The Flinders Ranges exposed rock strata that document nearly a billion years of the Earth’s history. Vegetation is sparse, and the terrain will permit a mix of running and walking.

An experienced team of rogainers from around Australia has come together to organise the event and is meeting regularly. LiDAR data has been purchased to achieve the best quality map. A substantial funding grant for the event has been approved by the South Australian Government Tourism Commission.
Bulletin 1 will be out shortly with information on the event and location, to allow you to start planning.
European Rogaining Championships 2026
The 21st European Rogaining Championships will be held in Orlické Záhoří, Czech Republic on Saturday 27 June to Sunday 28 June 2026.
The terrain has one main mountain ridge in a central flat area with bog where the Orlice River originates. The rogaine straddles the border between Czech Republic and Poland.
The map from a rogaining event in 2016 is on the website for you to view. Please respect the embargoed area in place until the event.

Slovenia foot and mountain bike rogaine
There will be an 8-hour foot rogaine and 6-hour MTB rogaine in Štorje, Slovenia on 21 March 2026. This is Slovenia’s second rogaine.

New Zealand Rogaining Championships 2025
Lake McKay Station near Wanaka in New Zealand was the location for the national rogaining champs in November 2025. The terrain stretched from bike trails along the Clutha River right up to 1300m on the Pisa Range with views of lakes and snowy mountains of Central Otago. Route planning presented challenges with steep valleys, rocky bluffs and impenetrable bush between ridges. If you’ve never rogained in NZ you will not have experienced the vicious delights of rampant matagouri bushes, gorse and briar roses. A meeting for champions in Latvia
Latvian rogainers ran an event called “Champions dinner”. It was a chance to have a meeting of Lativan champions where they were able to enjoy the Latvian woods at wintertime with a mini-rogaine and have a relaxing dinner and a story night afterwards.

250 Rogaines in one state of Australia!
The sport of Rogaining was invented in the Australian state of Victoria. Australia is a big place and rogaining developed under separate organisations in each state and territory. From Victoria rogaining next spread to the states of Western Australia and New South Wales, home of Australia’s largest city, Sydney.
This year will mark the 250th Rogaine in New South Wales since the state rogaining association was formed in 1983. These days average attendance at events is 300-500 competitors.
The milestone in 2026 is being marked by the 24-hour state championships.
Remarkably the championship course is being set by one of the original founders of the Association - Bert Van Netten.
By regularly running events Bert has been a huge contributor to rogaining. In particular, he gained the support of his local government at Lake Macquarie for sponsorship of an annual rogaine now in its 34th year. This year’s championships will be combined with that event.
As a rogainer Bert has always been a competitive and very successful navigator. He is famous amongst his partners for high awareness of landforms and for rarely pulling out his compass.
