12WRC 2014 - Rogaining in South Dakota

"Rogaining in South Dakota

The Black Hills of South Dakota is the location for the 2014 World Rogaining Championships (WRC) this coming August.  Three previous rogaines attracted competitors from all over the United States and several other countries, but most athletes have not had the opportunity to run the ridges and traverse the forests of this region.

As one of twelve individuals who have competed in all three of the prior events held in Custer State Park some 25 miles (40 KM) from the 2014 WRC area, I would offer a few thoughts and experiences for the 400 plus WRC entrants and those who are thinking about signing up. "

Update - second call for Expression of Interest to Host - 15th World Rogaining Championship 2017

Update 10 April 2014 - Second round of Expression of Interest open as no First round Expressions of Interest were received.
 
"Dear IRF Councilors,
 
Up to 31 March 2014 I haven't received any Expressions of Interest (EoI) to host 15th World Rogaining Championship in 2017. Now the EoI submission for that WRC is opened up to all regions. Dead line of the second round EoIs is end of June 2014.
 
Countries wishing to conduct the WRC must submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) that is in accordance with the guidelines contained in the attached document "Requirements for Expressions of Interest".
 
An EoI has to be submitted within period from 7 April 2014 to 30 June 2014 and will be available for the IRF Council consideration and assessment for a period of four weeks (up to 31 July 2014). Then the vote will be opened.
 
Mind the IRF has adopted "World Rogaining Championships Host Policy" defining requirements for potential WRC Hosts that is effective for all World Rogaining Championships to be conducted after 2016.
 
It is preferable to submit EoIs electronically via mail to address: jan.tojnar [at] rogaining.cz

World Rogaining Championships

The World Rogaining Championships (WRC) are the championships of the International Rogaining Federation. As the sport's premier event, the World Rogaining Championships are for the benefit of everyone in the sport: for elite competitors, for organizers, for administrators, and as a meeting focus for rogaining enthusiasts.

Technical

The International Rogaining Federation provides the forum to agree on technical facets of rogaining. We maintain a code and rules of Rogaining that govern the World Rogaining Championships and provide the basis for member country rules.

Member Resources

The International Rogaining Federation provides support for member countries organizing events and other developing countries establishing new rogaining associations.

The International Rogaining Federation can include your regional event on our events calendar.
